Hiring Process
The City of Vero Beach follows a structured hiring process to ensure a fair and thorough evaluation of all applicants. It begins with the submission of an online application through our careers portal. Qualified applications are reviewed by Human Resources, and selected candidates are contacted for interviews. Once a candidate is chosen, pre-employment steps such as background checks and medical screenings (if required) are conducted. Upon successful completion, the new hire is scheduled for orientation and welcomed to the team. Our goal is to recruit dedicated individuals who are excited to serve our community.
- Application Submission
To apply, complete and submit an official application through our online careers portal. Be sure to include all required information and supporting documents. Our HR team will review your application and contact you if you meet the qualifications.
- Under Review
After submission, your application will be reviewed by HR to assess your qualifications. This process may take several days. You’ll be notified by email if selected for the next step.
- Interview
Selected candidates will be contacted for an interview in person. It’s your chance to showcase your qualifications and interest in the role.
- Pre-Employment
Congratulations! You’re moving forward. HR will begin your background check (3–5 days) and contact you to complete new hire paperwork. A medical screening may be required based on the position.
- First Day-Orientation
When the pre-employment process is complete and able to proceed with employment, the Hiring Manager will contact you for your First Day! You will then be instructed that day by your admin regarding a time for Orientation.
